Base Station Virtual Reality Arcade Lounge

Base Station Virtual Reality Arcade Lounge

Base Station VR Lounge is Providence and Rhode Island’s first dedicated Virtual Reality Arcade/Lounge.

Click here to watch our segment on The Rhode Show.

Whether you’re looking to relax and spend time in the Arizona sunshine shooting zombies or go a bit wild and create virtual artwork that fills an entire room sized canvas in 3D, we’ve got the space for you! Base Station VR Lounge has several room scale spaces, all approximately 8’x8′, which allow you to walk around a bit and not be constrained to one spot in “real” space, allowing the inner and outer you freedom of motion.

If you’re looking for a unique place for a date night or possibly a family friendly venue to take your kids where you can also participate, then keep Base Station VR Lounge in mind. Perhaps you’re in search of a venue for team building or just an escape from the office for your crew, maybe a place to have your birthday party or a gathering of friends, a location that has a form of entertainment you just can’t get anywhere else, then call or stop by and talk to us about what you’re looking for.

When you come in to Base Station VR, you’ll put on a Virtual Reality Headset and step into an alternate universe, into the past, into the future. You’ll drive fast cars or even faster space ships. Paint in 3D space or take your fears to new limits. Spend time with zombies or aliens, or spend time with your friends in multi-player VR. Base Station VR offers several Virtual Reality headsets and room scale play areas to allow your imagination loose, let your creativity free, and let your inner gamer go wild.

This is something you have to try to believe. From 6-42 we all had a blast. Friendly, unique and affordable. If you are thinking of doing something at a big arcade, think again! This is the place!

Base Station VR is amazing. I went in today and tried out 2 of the games and my mind was blown. It was my first time trying VR and I'm hooked.

I played a shooting game and another one where I was dodging bullets and fighting faceless enemies. I controlled when it became slow motion and the bullets would slowly fly by my head.

You have to try this out!

Kids had a great time. Awesome idea for a birthday celebration

For a new concept, the business is pretty cool. Located in a central area to have a cheap or expensive night out or date, you can augment it by getting your nerd on at this cool place.

While it is designed with a minimalist yet comfortable appeal, the thing that is really going to grab your attention is once the VR goggles are on.

After signing the waiver, you place the gear on your head, including headphones to integrate sound, just seeing the 'holodeck'-like VR will seem very cool.

I was able to take 10 minute sample of a game, which was John Wick: Chronicles. It played pretty well. The technology definitely does a good job of immersing you in the situation, even if I was a total noob.

I will come back here again!

I can't wait to go back!!! Excellent for all ages. The kids haven't stopped talking about it. Friendly service and nice venue.

Tons of fun, our 10 year old birthday boy and his buddies had a wonderful experience. Highly recommend!

The kids had a great time (9yo and 14yo); they picked the concepts up quickly. Staff was great (this helped the learning curve) and was of great assistance picking an ‘experience’. We found that an hour was a sufficient amount as well, and we would definitely return when/if in the area again.

Perfect for date night! Must do if you have never done it. Great escape and make 30 minutes feel like 2 hours. Owner is onsite and super helpful to make the most of your experience. We will definitely be back for more fun.

  • Debby O.Debby O.

So much fun! I think I need another 10-12 hours in there to do all the cool stuff!

  • Richard J.Richard J.

I thought it was a lot of fun. The owner was a good guy and was very helpful. Some of the games had controls that took time getting used to so you waste part of the time just trying to figure things out. At $39/hr, you don't want to waste time. I liked the sailing VR and got lost in that quite a while. I used to sail Lasers and the experience is similar. It would have been more fun if you were actually competing in a race though. All in all, I would recommend it. I'm sure the next time I go, it will be easier as there is definitely a learning curve. But then again, I'm old.

This was an incredible experience, I'll definitely go again.

It was super fun! We will be back soon! It was worth the Groupon.

  • Scott A.Scott A.

The shop keep was both friendly, informative and very helpful. Definitely will be going back. Very Worth it.

  • Craig R.Craig R.

Would definitely go back. Had a great time and the staff was very helpful.

Held my son's birthday party here (about ten 10 and 11 year olds). I think it was the first VR experience for all of them. The reactions they had when they first put on the headset were priceless. Navigating the game selection and otherwise getting each kid setup and running was a bit difficult and required frequent assistance, but once they got the hang of it, they loved it.

We rented two stations for three hours so we gave each kid 10 min at a time which was enough to get into some of the longer playing games. I think the favorite was Job Trainer.

    Great time and highly recommended!

The place is AMAZING! The staff was very attentive and nice. The games were super fun and my first VR experience was something i'll never forget.

Very cool joint! I really enjoyed the 3D aspect, and getting immersed in the games.

Had a blast! Once I figured out what I was doing! The owner was very nice and patient!

Great time. Cool new place on Thayer. Perfect for parties.

  • Theodore H.Theodore H.

Great night out. We wanted to see what VR was all about. Session was private and the owner could not have been nicer teaching us about what to expect and how to enjoy the experience. VR transported us away. It was amazing.

A lot of fun and a great environment for a date or with friends. I'll be coming back.

  • Keith D.Keith D.

Nidal is a fantastic host and the experience was AMAZING! Can't wait to do it again! Two thumbs up!
